Synthesizers and Fender Rhodes were unusual in Buenos Aires in 1974, but Fernando Gelbard chose to forgo his acoustic instruments and become the first Argentinian musician to make a jazz record exclusively on the new electronic instruments. (MP3 removed at the request of Fernando Gelbard)

I searched far and wide but couldn't find any information in English about this band -- I'm not even sure whether they're called Nigetahitsuji or Nigeta Hitsuji. All I know for shimishuro is that they're led by a genius named Suguru Kishimoto, and I bought their cd "Tropical Gum" (March, 2008) on a whim and it turned out to be the best thing since pickled ginger. I suggest you make the short trip over to Kyoto following our gig at the Fukumama and pick up several copies from this
lovely vendor. In the meantime here's a song to tide you over.

Ponytone will be playing a mambo/salsa set at the Fukumama club in Osaka on May 12th and all Ponytoners are invited. This barrio-stormer from Willie's second Xmas LP will most definitely get a rewind.

Over the years I've developed a theory that I can get my mother to like absolutely any kind of music as long as it's French. So for kicks I've decided to test my theory and see just how far I can push it. My first experiment, to be presented on Mother's Day, will be a mix of french heavy metal from the 80s. In the meantime I'm kinda getting into it myself.

Snagged this at a yard sale as part of a buy one get one free deal (the Troop Beverly Hills soundtrack cost me a quarter).

To translate the french, Agatha is not Francis Bebey's lover. She's just a girl who claims that he is the one, but the kid is not his son.

How can you possibly improve on Billy Paul's original recording of 'Let The Dollar Circulate'? Well, you could let Jay Dee go to work on the master tapes, then get an angel-voiced bad boy to swoop through the loops.

A team of research scientists from the Ministry of Defence have concluded that the optimum method for cracking a besieged terrorist cell is to play "Killer" at 120 decibels, filling them with fear and destroying their spirit prior to pumping in the tear gas. Try it out on unruly neighbours.

A lullaby for sleepyheaded children, restless night-trippers and my darling alleycat, slumbering beneath a veil of cherry blossom in the long grass. (click to download)
